This book discusses market power of cooperatives in Ethiopia and investigates the factors that influence market power. A standard analytical tool such as Herfindahl index, the commonly used competition assessment tool, is employed to analyze the degree of market concentration within the defined marketplace. The share of cooperatives is significantly low indicating that the market is dominated by non cooperative firms. The book comprises six chapters. The first chapter dovetails market power of cooperatives; second chapter deals with empirical studies on market power and conceptual framework; the methodological approach is discussed in the third chapter. Chapter four is devoted for analyzing the market power of cooperatives; factors explaining market power of cooperatives is analyzed in the fifth chapter using binary dependent logistic regression model; and in final chapter major findings, conclusion and recommendations for policy implications are offered.
